5 Things on Friday volume 12

Happy Friday!

Weekend vibes are loading and I thought I’d check in with a Five things on Friday post!

And just like that we are in September - chapter 9 of 2025.

Spring is getting closer and it is almost time to pack away the warm winter clothes until next year. Time for me to book a much needed pedicure and take out my summer dresses and sandals.

As I’ve done the last few years, I made a point of soaking up winter and enjoying as much as I could. We bought a winter blanket that was amazing and I found myself getting comfy and then dozing off in front of the TV many times!

August was a busy month with check ups

I went to the Dermatologist for a check up which went well. Then went for a thorough check up with my GP and had blood tests done. I just need to go for a mammogram (as I’m over 40) which I’ve booked for next week early in the morning.

new running shoes

Mark and I bought new shoes and am looking forward to putting them to good use. I rarely run over 5km in one go but needed new running shoes as my others were getting very worn.

prioritising workouts

Speaking of running, I’ve been trying to workout more regularly and figuring out what time of day is the best for me. Mornings before work vs afternoons after work - I’m still deciding.

I feel tired after an early morning session unless I eat breakfast shortly afterwards.

After work, it is easy to find excuses to skip the run so I’m still not 100% certain which time slot is the winner for me.

Do you have a favourite time of day to exercise?

BOOKS LATELY

I’m thoroughly enjoying Lisa Jewell’s latest book “Don’t let him in”.

And yes I was snug under our winter blanket in this photo.

I need to make more time to read, I enjoy reading in the evenings before bed and also it is time offline and not spent scrolling on my phone.

We were in Hermanus last month and I visited the Bargain Books. Was just going to have a browse…. but of course I bought 3 books - I couldn’t resist. Two are by Ruth Ware and one by Frieda McFadden.

I find most of the books I read are thrillers - do you have a favourite genre?
